85% of workers are encouraged to use AI, but 48% do not know why

Nearly all employees are being encouraged to use artificial intelligence at work, but many are unclear about the reason, according to research from Culture Amp.

The report says 85% of workers are encouraged to rely on AI for tasks, while 48% still ask why they are using it. Employees report benefits including increased productivity and motivation, but the findings point to a disconnect between corporate AI strategy and how managers communicate it.

Culture Amp’s How Employees Really Feel About AI at Work report surveyed 112,000 people across 123 businesses around the world. It describes the research as a benchmark and says the impact of AI on workforces and individual roles is still becoming clear.

Amy Lavoie, VP of People Science at Culture Amp, says employees understand the risks, use the tools and feel more productive. However, leaders may lack clear guidance about which roles AI will reshape, which skills will retain their value, and what a career path will look like three years from now.

Lavoie says leaders should acknowledge that their plans are unfinished and continue communicating with employees. She argues that workers need candor rather than certainty while AI policies develop.
