A developer says Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5.5 built a real-time, hardware-accelerated 3D path tracer from scratch in about an hour. The account was reported by Wccftech.
The developer used a prompt asking for a ray-tracing demo accelerated by NVIDIA CUDA, RTX and Blackwell kernels. It also asked the demo to use both of the developer’s NVIDIA RTX 5090 graphics cards and illustrate diffuse and metallic materials, reflections, glossiness, roughness, transparency, translucency and self-illumination.
The source identifies the developer as a Reddit user but does not provide a username. It describes the project as a demonstration of Claude’s ability to build a ray-tracing pipeline, but offers no independent verification of the development time or the demo’s capabilities.
