Yandex says damage to three data centers has disrupted services, with some customers unable to access files stored in its cloud infrastructure. The company has not said whether data at the affected facilities has been permanently lost.
The affected centers are in Sasovo, Kaluga and Vladimir. They were hit on October 8, October 9 and October 11, respectively. Yandex says the Sasovo and Vladimir facilities have stopped operating, while operations in Kaluga are degraded. It reported no injuries.
The attacks are believed to have been carried out by Ukrainian forces seeking to disrupt operations, according to the source report. Yandex says its teams are working to maintain services and assist customers and partners, but it cannot give a reliable restoration timeline. The company has advised customers to use alternative infrastructure for disaster recovery, saying its remaining resource configuration is unstable.
Yandex’s status page lists its Console, API, IAM, Container Registry, databases, S3 storage and Kubernetes as available, though some have performance or availability issues. Compute, AI Studio and security services are partially available, while Monium remains offline.
One customer reported problems beginning October 8, including missing thumbnails in Yandex Disk backups and failed downloads. The customer said attempts to access or work with files returned HTTP 302 redirects, HTTP 504 Gateway Timeout errors and HTTP 500 errors.
