President Donald Trump has suggested renaming artificial intelligence and said he is creating an AI Force, without explaining how either initiative would work.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said some people consider “Artificial Intelligence” inaccurate and “very ineloquent.” He opened a poll asking followers to choose among Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence, and Supreme Intelligence. The poll was still ongoing at publication time.
Trump also described criticism of AI and data centers as a Democratic hoax, but he offered no evidence that public concern is not organic. He said he would support and watch over the AI industry as it grows, while forming an AI Force similar to Space Force. He added that he would announce an AI “Czar” in the near future, but did not explain the force’s or czar’s duties.
The comments come amid an intensifying debate over AI safety. Anthropic researcher concerns, a plan from CEO Dario Amodei, and public responses from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk have contributed to the discussion. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also agreed with Trump that the AI backlash is a hoax during a call at the All-In Summit.
