Meta has launched Waddle World, a virtual pet app that presents itself as a daily journal. The app’s virtual creatures chat with users and create doodles to illustrate their conversations.
Apple and Play Store listings describe Waddle World as a “16-bit pet care game” that is “a daily journal disguised as a pet.” They encourage users to talk with their pets rather than type, and mention casual activities including stacking groceries and word games.
The app is listed as free and available only to adults in the Philippines. The Verge said it could not independently verify the location restriction. It is unclear whether Meta plans to release Waddle World in the United States or elsewhere. The Verge said it had contacted Meta for more information about the app and its availability.
Meta also quietly launched Style Sketch, an AI fashion app. Social media consultant Matt Navarra said it is available only in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand; The Verge said it could not verify those restrictions either.
