Levoit’s Vital Pet Pro targets pet odors and fur

Levoit’s Vital Pet Pro Air Purifier is designed for homes with pets, with features aimed at collecting fur and reducing odors. The purifier costs $189.99.

Its three-stage filtration system has a washable pre-filter for larger debris such as pet hair, a main filter for smaller particles and dander, and an activated carbon filter containing 140 grams of activated carbon to tackle odors. Levoit says the U-shaped air inlet helps capture airborne hair and particles, improve airflow, and prevent the filter from clogging.

After testing the purifier for a little over a week, TechCrunch reviewer Lauren Forristal found it effective at collecting fur and debris. Levoit says the device can remove up to 70% of odors within one hour. Forristal said she could not verify that claim with a specific test, but noticed that the room smelled fresher after the purifier had run.

The purifier can automatically remove accumulated hair and debris from its pre-filter into a removable tray. Its app includes Auto Plus Mode and Pet Mode. In Pet Mode, the fan runs at its highest speed for 15 minutes, then at a lower speed for 60 minutes. The device uses colored indicators for air quality: red for bad, orange for moderate, green for good, and cyan for very good. Forristal noted that the purifier is larger than expected and audible at its highest setting; Sleep Mode runs more quietly.
