PixelMob combines editing and backup in a portable workstation

TechRadar’s review describes the PixelMob as a touchscreen workstation for photographers, videographers and other creators. It runs a customized version of Android and combines file management, editing, monitoring and tethered shooting in a portable unit.

The device has a 7-inch OLED display rated at 1,100 nits, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Its three M.2 slots support modules of up to 8TB each, for a potential total of 24TB. The standard storage is an M.2 2280 module. The unit also has SD, microSD and CFexpress Type B card slots, along with USB, HDMI and LAN connections.

TechRadar’s reviewer found the basic setup manageable, though creating a Lightbox was necessary before downloaded files could be organized. The review says some CFexpress Type B cards took a long time to register, while 1TB and 2TB cards were not recognized in some cases. A card reader connected over USB-C worked as an alternative.

The review also notes that the casing felt less finished than expected and that a Sony NP-F battery did not fit firmly, although it could serve as a stand. The PixelMob includes UniDrive NAS software and supports cloud backup. At the time of the review, it had launched on Kickstarter as the PixelMob Portable AI Workstation for Creators.
