China is expected to account for 20% of ASML’s annual sales this year, according to Wccftech. The Dutch semiconductor equipment maker has warned that further U.S. restrictions on sales of deep ultraviolet (DUV) equipment to China could do more harm than good, the report says.
The U.S. MATCH Act could impose additional limits on China’s ability to buy DUV equipment and machinery from ASML. The company argues that measures intended to curb China’s technological progress would be harmful, according to the report.
At the same time, China is accelerating efforts to develop DUV machinery domestically. That push could put at risk the sales China represents for ASML, Wccftech says. The report does not specify how much of those sales comes from DUV equipment.
ASML has reportedly considered a 10% price increase for components used in extreme ultraviolet (EUV) machinery. The report does not establish whether that increase is connected to potential losses from DUV restrictions.
