Apple can’t predict when iPhone Duo supply will catch up

Apple CEO John Ternus says the company cannot predict when supply and demand for the iPhone Duo will be in balance. In an interview with Reuters, he said Apple is working to get the foldable phone to as many customers as quickly as possible.

Apple launched its first foldable last month for $1,999. It has a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner screen. Preorders quickly sold out, and some shipments are expected to arrive in 2027. Apple also offered a limited number of iPhone Duo models in stores at launch.

Ternus told Reuters that “a very small percentage” of iPhone Duos were returned because of reports of cracked screens, and that Apple is replacing those devices.

Apple has faced supply chain constraints and rising memory costs for months. The source says these pressures led to price increases across its product lineup, including higher starting prices for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Ternus called current memory pricing “unprecedented” during Apple’s Q4 2026 earnings call on Monday. He said Apple expects “even higher memory costs” in its December quarter, partly offset by recent price increases.

Apple reported fourth-quarter iPhone revenue of $57.58 billion, despite not having a standard iPhone 18 model.
