Apple and LG reportedly plan smart home devices, including a lock and thermostat

Apple is collaborating with LG on a new lineup of smart home devices, according to a report from Bloomberg. The products are expected to carry LG branding and work with Apple’s rumored smart home hub.

Bloomberg reports that the lineup includes a video doorbell, thermostat, indoor camera, deadbolt lock, outdoor security camera, and floodlight camera. Several devices will reportedly support the Thread and Matter smart home protocols.

The deadbolt lock is said to include ultra-wideband technology that could let it unlock automatically when a user approaches their door. The report does not confirm when the devices will launch.

Apple is also reportedly developing a Siri-enabled smart home hub with a 6-inch display that can be mounted on a wall or placed on a table. The company is expected to unveil the hub at an event on October 13. It may also announce a new HomePod mini and an upgraded Apple TV, according to the report.
