86% of UK workers say AI boosts productivity, but 57% see better output

A report from Miro says 86% of UK respondents feel AI has made them more productive and capable. But 57% say they have seen improvements in their organization’s output quality, raising questions about what productivity gains mean for the work itself.

The report found that 71% of UK respondents use AI in private sessions rather than collaboratively. Miro says this “single-player” approach can leave colleagues without shared context, knowledge or visibility. It also found that 28% of British respondents feel increased AI use has made them more disconnected from colleagues, while 18% say work feels lonelier than before.

“What this research points to is the growing need for a place where AI and people can collaborate together to make those critical decisions, instead of in fragmented and disjointed individual single-player tools,” Miro Product Evangelist Leader Dave Ross said.

Miro recommends that businesses invest in shared AI technologies and consolidate fragmented tools. The report also cites Gartner research on “AI workhubs,” which connect fragmented tools and siloed data. Ross said these workhubs can give teams and their agents shared context to support decisions and execution.

The report argues that demonstrating AI use is no longer enough as businesses face pressure to show a return on their AI investments. It emphasizes the need for a clearer organization-wide AI strategy to improve output.
