Epic Games has documented support for Microsoft’s DirectX 12 Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD) in Unreal Engine 5.8. The integration is aimed at a persistent PC gaming issue: stutter caused by Pipeline State Object (PSO) and shader compilation.
Epic’s documentation describes a dedicated ASD Tool that can generate a State Object Database (SODB) from a cooked Windows Direct3D12 game build. A cooked build has had its assets converted and optimized for the target platform.
Developers can submit the database to supported game storefronts. The source does not identify those storefronts or say when games using the feature will become available. It presents the integration as a step toward addressing shader compilation stutter, not as proof that the issue has been eliminated.
