White House removes Build the Wall game after Tetris Company complaint

The White House has removed a video game called Build the Wall from its website after The Tetris Company complained about it.

The game closely resembled Tetris and asked players to stack blocks of different shapes and sizes. Its stated goal was to build a wall to keep out a “zombie border siege.” The game was widely criticized as racist.

The Tetris Company, which owns the rights to the original Tetris game, said on Instagram that it was not involved in creating Build the Wall. The company added that it takes copyright infringement very seriously.

The game’s page now returns a “404” error, meaning it no longer exists on the website. Kotaku first reported that the game was no longer visible on the White House website.

TechCrunch contacted the Trump administration for comment. Another game, Rio Run, remains visible on the government’s website. In that game, players control a white male character whose stated goal is to deport as many immigrant characters as possible.
