Vodafone has launched SuperMobile, a mobile connectivity plan aimed at supporting generative AI products such as the Meta Glasses.
The plan promises speeds of up to 4x faster than Vodafone’s standard plans and guarantees a minimum speed of 15Mbps at all times. If a speed test shows that a customer on the 5G+ network is receiving less than 15Mbps, Vodafone says the customer can leave the plan without an early termination fee.
Rob Winterschladen, Vodafone’s Consumer Director, said low latency will become more important for uses including video content creation and augmented reality. He described SuperMobile as “5G+, on a slice, with super low latency,” adding that it could make generative AI more responsive.
Vodafone said the plan is designed for future mobile devices that may require more bandwidth. The company cited smart glasses such as the Meta Glasses as an example of products that could use real-time AI overlays.
SuperMobile is available for £3 per month more than Vodafone’s full-speed Xtra plans, £8 more than its SIM-only 100Mbps plans, and £4 more than its handset 100Mbps plans. It is also available as a rolling monthly add-on for £12.
