TechRadar reports that VisionQuest takes place around 2027, based on an interview with showrunner Terry Matalas.
Matalas told TechRadar that the series is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's present day and occurs around the same time as Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Asked whether that meant around 2027, he agreed, describing it as “the present day of the MCU.”
The report notes that some fans believe Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set in 2028. It also recounts earlier comments from Paul Bettany, who said VisionQuest picks up Vision's story “around a year or so” after the 2023 finale of WandaVision—a timeline that could suggest 2024. Matalas said the gap feels longer than a year, leaving open the possibility Bettany misspoke or referred to flashbacks.
Avengers: Endgame was originally set in 2018, then moved five years ahead to 2023 after its opening sequence. The report says the MCU has since been set a few years ahead of the present. It describes VisionQuest as an eight-episode series and notes that it was due to debut October 13/14; the source does not specify the year for that date.
