Virgin Media O2 (VMO2) could cut thousands of jobs as it seeks to reduce costs and address company debt, according to a report by Sky News cited by TechRadar. The number of affected roles has not been confirmed.
An unnamed insider told Sky News that as many as 4,000 jobs could be at risk, or 25% of VMO2’s workforce. The company employs around 16,000 people. Sky News reported that non-customer-facing roles are likely to be hit hardest, with management changes also reportedly underway.
VMO2 may share details during its Q3 earnings call on November 3. TechRadar said it contacted the company for confirmation but had not received an immediate response.
VMO2’s overall revenue fell 7.9% last quarter. It also reported net debt equivalent to 5.89x its annualized adjusted EBITDA. The report notes that VodafoneThree confirmed plans in July 2026 to cut 1,200 jobs across Europe.
