The ViewX Liber is a 15.6-inch portable monitor with a 3840 x 2160 resolution. It can display 2D and 3D content without extra equipment or 3D glasses. TechRadar reviewer Alastair Jennings tested the monitor.
The display has a built-in camera and sensors that track the viewer’s position for 3D mode. It works best when the viewer sits directly in front of it and stays relatively still. Moving can cause the image to switch back to 2D or flicker. The reviewer found that 3D mode reduced detail and resolution, while AI-enhanced video converted standard 2D footage into a 3D effect that he found engaging.
Setup requires installing the monitor’s software. The review describes installation as straightforward, but says some app settings are not translated into English. Games can be launched through 3D Playground Lite, though the reviewer found that launching them directly also worked; Indiana Jones and the Great Circle looked “pretty decent.” The reviewer also reported glitches and said some apps and games were not fully compatible.
The monitor has two USB-C ports for video and power, a mini HDMI 2.0 port, a micro USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It weighs 1,274g. TechRadar lists a 60Hz refresh rate and a 40-degree optimal 3D viewing angle.
TechRadar says the ViewX Liber is available through ViewX’s Kickstarter page, with prices starting at $1,099. Jennings called it a niche device and said that price is high for a 4K portable monitor.
