Search interest in “super intelligence” rose sharply in the United States after President Donald Trump signed Executive Order 14434, titled “Inaugurating the Age of Super Intelligence,” according to Google Trends data described by TechRadar. At one point, US searches for the term were about three times higher.
The increase was limited to the United States. Worldwide, interest did not show the same shift, and the phrase “artificial intelligence” remained the more commonly used term, TechRadar reported.
Trump has promoted “super intelligence” as an alternative to “artificial intelligence.” In a post on Truth Social, he called people who use the latter term “the enemy.” TechRadar noted that some US government websites have adopted “super intelligence” and “SI,” while the government’s ai.gov website address retains “AI.”
The article also says Trump has opposed calls for guardrails on AI, arguing that the United States should not constrain the technology while China does not take the same precautions. Whether the terminology change will spread beyond the United States remains uncertain.
