Unitree, Tesla and Figure report progress on humanoid robots

Unitree, Tesla and Figure have shared updates on their humanoid robot projects, including work on software, production and dexterity. The details come from company statements and reporting cited by TechRadar.

Unitree is developing an AI system called Unitree Rehearsal to help its humanoid robots improve through code and simulations they generate themselves, according to founder Wang Xingxing. He said engineers would still provide feedback and assess performance. Wang said the company hopes its robots could clean rooms as early as next year.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Optimus production lines are running in Fremont, California. He said production could reach about 20,000 robots per week by 2027, subject to further engineering work. Musk also said engineers are still working on the robot’s safety and reliability, and that Optimus currently struggles to complete varied tasks independently.

Figure CEO Brett Adcock said the company is developing its fourth-generation humanoid, while production of Figure 03 has reached four figures. Figure said fingertip tracking has reached millimeter-level precision. Its Index app has reportedly received about 37.5 million videos for robot training. Figure also said a Figure 03 robot recently walked on a treadmill for nine days straight at the company’s headquarters.
