Tesla and SpaceX have formed special committees to discuss a possible merger, Elon Musk said during SpaceX’s third-quarter earnings call.
Musk, who is CEO of both companies, said the committees have not agreed on the terms of any transaction. He added that there is no guarantee they will reach an agreement.
Still, Musk called a Tesla-SpaceX merger a “good idea.” “I think it would be a good idea,” he said, adding that the decision is up to the special committees of both companies.
Earlier this month, Barclays published a client note suggesting a potential combination could be announced before Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting, scheduled for December 3, 2026. The committees have not reached agreement, and Musk said there is no guarantee they will. The Verge reported that discussions are ongoing.
