TCL QM7L review: a strong mid-range TV for 2026

TechRadar’s James Holland describes the TCL QM7L as a value-focused TV that comes close to TCL’s more expensive models. The review says it delivers about 97% of the picture quality of the TCL QM8L, with a lower price and compromises in brightness and local dimming.

The QM7L offers up to 2,100 local dimming zones and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. In testing, its HDR brightness reached 2,270 nits in Filmmaker mode and 2,419 nits in Standard mode, below the QM8L’s 3,719 and 3,771 nits in those modes. The review also measured SDR peak brightness at 463.3909 nits in Standard mode, about 9% below the QM8L.

Holland says the picture remains sharp, with strong motion clarity, and highlights TCL’s Halo Control System and Deep Color System. The TV supports HDR formats and spatial audio, and its HDMI connections include two HDMI 2.1 ports at 144Hz. The review says the high refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Pro make it appealing for gaming.

Google Gemini is included, but Holland found its answers sometimes inaccurate and says it could not open and play content on command. TechRadar reports a price range from $999.99 for the 55-inch model to $2,999.99 for the 100-inch model. The TCL QM7L, QM8L and X11L launched in April 2026, according to the review.
