Microsoft says its Surface Laptop Ultra will launch on October 16, with prices starting at $2,599. The company revealed the laptop months earlier.
The base configuration includes an 18-core CPU, 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Its 15-inch HDR touchscreen reaches up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, and its larger trackpad supports haptic feedback.
The laptop uses Nvidia’s RTX Spark, an Arm-based processor with up to 128GB of unified memory. Microsoft and Nvidia position RTX Spark laptops at the premium end of the market for creative software, gaming and local AI tasks. The aluminum chassis resembles a MacBook Pro, which the Surface Laptop Ultra is intended to compete with.
Ports include three USB-C ports, an HDMI port, one USB-A port, a full-size SD card reader and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The laptop is available in several configurations. The most expensive model costs $5,899.99 and includes 128GB of RAM, a 20-core CPU and 1TB of storage.
Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Pro is available to preorder starting today, according to The Verge.
