SK Hynix Ends Production of 2 GB GDDR7 Chips

SK Hynix has reportedly put its 2 GB GDDR7 memory chips at end of life, according to Wccftech. The affected chips include models rated at 28 Gbps and 32 Gbps.

Wccftech reports that SK Hynix supplied its GDDR7 chips to NVIDIA for only a couple of months before ending production of the 2 GB modules. The company is now producing only 3 GB GDDR7 modules, according to the report.

The development could leave RTX 50 Series graphics cards relying on Samsung and SK Hynix for GDDR7 memory, although the report also notes that Micron joined NVIDIA's memory-supplier list in mid-2025. Micron's GDDR7 chips were not spotted on an RTX 50 card until February, Wccftech says.

The report does not provide a reason for SK Hynix's decision. It also does not establish how broadly the change will affect future RTX 50 Series cards or NVIDIA's memory sourcing.
