iOS 27.2 beta 2 reveals Apple’s possible AutoLock anti-snatching feature

Apple’s iOS 27.2 beta 2 contains more details about an unannounced anti-snatching feature that could automatically lock an iPhone if it appears to have been stolen. TechRadar reports that 9to5Mac found references to the feature, which is apparently called “AutoLock” internally at Apple.

The code suggests AutoLock could use signals such as sharp acceleration, loss of connection to a paired Apple Watch, an unreachable paired Apple Watch, prolonged loss of network activity, or the iPhone remaining unlocked for a certain period. The feature also appears to include safeguards against false positives, including successful biometric authentication and some ordinary app activity.

The beta also includes code for an album release countdown in Apple Music. Shortcuts may gain support for actions from other apps in its “Describe a Shortcut” tool, allowing users to include them in shortcuts created with natural language.

Separately, evidence found by X users @itspdfu and @aaronp613 points to a “Drive Mode Theme” for CarPlay Ultra, with options such as different gauge styles and colors. CarPlay Ultra is currently available only on Aston Martin vehicles.

Apple has not confirmed whether these features will launch or when they might arrive.
