Shelly has unveiled the new indoor Shelly Camera, a smart home security camera priced at $49.99 / £35 (approximately AU$65). The camera is designed for users who want basic home-monitoring features without a required subscription.
It records at 1080P and provides a 110-degree horizontal field of view and a 70-degree vertical field of view. Other features include black-and-white night vision, two-way audio, and compatibility with Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings.
The camera can work with other devices in Shelly's smart home ecosystem to trigger automations and activate lighting when movement is detected. Users can view live footage from a smartphone or save recordings locally on microSD cards, which are sold separately. The local-storage option does not require a monthly fee.
Shelly also offers Shelly Premium for 3.99 euros a month ($4.40 / £3.40 / AU$6.50). The premium tier provides cloud-based storage for one camera and additional automation features, including AI-powered object detection for faces, pets, and vehicles. Alerts can be customized. The camera includes a free three-month trial of Shelly Premium.
