French cloud provider Scaleway and US chipmaker AMD have put a new AI supercomputer into operation in the Stockholm area. It is the first time Scaleway has deployed a supercomputer outside France.
The facility is designed to give European AI companies and large enterprises access to large-scale computing capacity and an open software system. It uses AMD Instinct MI355X graphics processors, developed for demanding AI workloads.
The launch builds on Scaleway’s partnership with Tele2 and its expanding operations in Sweden. Tele2’s head of enterprise business, Stefan Trampus, said the company sees growing customer demand for European cloud and AI services.
Scaleway is part of French telecom group Iliad Group, which is also a major shareholder in Tele2. The investment is another example of Sweden attracting investment in European AI infrastructure.
