TechRadar’s Tom Bedford reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9, finding that it makes health data easier to understand by turning it into practical summaries and guidance. The watch builds on recent Samsung Health changes to offer a Fitness Index, which compares several areas of a user’s wellness with averages for other Samsung users, and an Energy Score based on sleep schedule, daily cadence and heart rate.
Bedford found the watch’s tracking mostly accurate and its tools useful, though some worked better than others. He said it could suit people interested in their health who are less familiar with interpreting fitness data, while prolific exercisers may find its guidance unnecessary.
The review also noted drawbacks. Battery life lasted about a day on a charge, or less with multiple daily workouts. Some features require a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. The interface could feel counterintuitive, and the watch picked up scuffs and marks. Its Super AMOLED screen reaches 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The watch is rated 5ATM for water resistance up to 50 meters, and also carries MIL-STD-810H and IPX8 ratings.
TechRadar said the Galaxy Watch 9 was unveiled on July 22, 2026, at Galaxy Unpacked. It comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes, with Bluetooth or LTE connectivity. The review described it as more accessible than many smartwatches, while noting that buyers seeking a basic tracker can find lower-cost options.
