A GIGABYTE RX 7900 XTX owner says instability with the graphics card may be linked to missing firmware updates. Wccftech reports that GIGABYTE told the owner the product was out of warranty and suggested visiting a local repair shop.
The complaint follows AMD’s identification, a few days earlier, of security vulnerabilities in the VBIOS used by Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards. Board partners, including GIGABYTE and Sapphire, then released newer firmware updates, according to Wccftech.
Wccftech says Sapphire released the latest VBIOS firmware for all Radeon RX 7000 models, while GIGABYTE had not addressed the higher-end models. The owner believes the absence of newer firmware for those GIGABYTE cards is behind the reported instability. That explanation is the owner’s view; the available account does not establish that older firmware caused the problem.
The report does not specify the card’s warranty terms, the exact instability symptoms, or whether the owner visited a repair shop. It also does not say whether GIGABYTE later issued firmware for the higher-end models. The account therefore leaves the cause of the owner’s issue unresolved.
