Ray-Ban Meta users report unrequested audio recordings

Some Ray-Ban Meta smart-glasses users say their devices saved audio conversations and text transcripts without a voice command or other request.

A user described the recordings in a Reddit discussion, saying they were found on three pairs of glasses, including 2nd- and 3rd-generation models. Other participants said they had seen similar activity on their own devices. The reports have not been independently verified.

Meta told Android Authority that the issue “has been resolved,” but did not provide further details. TechRadar said it had asked Meta for more comment and would update its report if it received a response.

Ray-Ban Meta glasses are expected to record voice only after a user says “hey Meta” or activates the AI with a button. The company’s privacy notice also says voice services may be activated inadvertently and that some recordings may be reviewed by Meta staff to help improve its voice services.

Users can view and delete recordings in the Meta AI app under Glasses, Device settings, Glasses privacy, and Voice activity log. The report says turning off voice activation is another option, but does not establish whether that prevents the reported behavior.
