PwC Report Finds AI Use at Work Is Rising as Workloads Grow

A new PwC report says more UK workers are using artificial intelligence at work, while many say their workload or job complexity has increased.

According to the report, 19% of UK workers use AI every day at work, up from 15% last year. Use also varies by seniority: 85% of senior executives and 73% of managers have used AI, compared with 35% of non-managers.

Many workers reported benefits. 70% said AI had improved the quality of their work, 63% said it helped them use more of their skills, and 58% said it brought value to the workplace. At the same time, 44% said their workload had increased after using AI, while 45% were concerned their jobs had become more complex.

Claire Reid, PwC UK’s chief innovation and technology officer, said employers and employees need to rethink how work is done. “The real prize isn’t just doing more work; it’s redesigning work so that people and AI together can deliver better outcomes,” she said.

Reid also said organisations should focus work on the right problems, give people the skills and confidence to use AI, and put appropriate safeguards in place. The report’s account also cites concerns about experimenting with AI, confusion over employer policies, and a need for more training as possible barriers to wider use.
