Pinterest tests Restyle AI tool for redesigning rooms

Pinterest is testing a new consumer feature called Restyle, which lets people use artificial intelligence to visualize changes to rooms in their own homes. The feature is launching in beta in the U.S. and Canada, Pinterest said.

Powered by Pinterest Intelligence, Restyle lets users upload a photo of a space and prompt the system to add wall art, furniture, accessories and other home decor. Users can also change lighting, paint colors and plants, including by using items found in images on Pinterest.

People can click individual objects to replace or erase them, make further edits, or ask the system to show the room in styles such as “bohemian,” “industrial,” “whimsical” or “dopamine.”

Pinterest said Pinterest Intelligence combines Nvidia Blackwell GPUs and Nvidia Dynamo with open-source models and technology built by Pinterest. The company said the system will also improve the Pinterest Assistant’s visual-search capabilities and support AI discovery and shopping.

Restyle was previewed at Pinterest’s annual Pinterest Presents event. The feature is currently available only as an early preview, and Pinterest said it will roll out more broadly next month. The company’s move could help users connect saved inspiration with products they may want to buy, though Pinterest’s feature is not a novel use of AI assistants.
