Osprey has launched Osprey Go, an app designed to make electric-vehicle charging easier by automating payment authentication and applying dynamic pricing across the company’s charging network.
The app builds on Osprey’s existing Autocharge technology. After customers enter their billing details, they must start two charging sessions through the Osprey app to register their vehicle. Osprey Iris, the company’s in-house platform, can then identify compatible electric vehicles at plug-in, start a session and apply the best available pricing without further input.
Osprey says rates depend on the charging site and time. Customers charging during off-peak periods may receive better rates at ultra-rapid charging sites. The company describes Osprey Go as an improvement to the EV customer experience and says it was designed to support a wide range of drivers.
The system is separate from Plug & Charge, the ISO 15118-based authentication standard that stores payment details in the vehicle and starts charging automatically. Osprey says Plug & Charge support is planned as a future addition to its platform.
For now, Osprey Go works only across Osprey’s own network, and drivers must download the app. EV charging remains fragmented, with Charge Point Operators offering different payment methods. Drivers travelling beyond familiar routes may still need a payment card or another charging app.
