OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Spaces, a shared environment where colleagues can work alongside ChatGPT and other OpenAI tools, including Codex and Dots. The company describes Spaces as a place to create, upload and share pages and files, including spreadsheets and presentations.
Spaces largely replaces the Library tab for Pro, Business and Enterprise users on desktop, mobile and the web. OpenAI says the new environment has a broader purpose than Library: it brings people, documents and AI tools together.
The launch also introduces Pages, documents that can combine text, images, charts and interactive tools. OpenAI says connections to apps such as Slack, email and calendars can keep information in Pages current, rather than requiring users to edit generated documents manually. According to the company’s FAQs, each user has their own ChatGPT and, where applicable, Dot, which they can ask to make changes or keep information up to date.
A meeting plugin is also in development. It is currently available in beta to Pro and Business users through the desktop app only. OpenAI says it creates private, personalized notes and suggests follow-ups in a shared Space accessible to colleagues.
OpenAI has not said it intends to replace Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. Spaces does, however, bring documents, colleagues and AI into one shared environment.
