Nvidia’s RTX Spark left a strong impression during a hands-on test at Gamescom 2026. The ARM-based superchip is designed for Windows on ARM laptops and compact PCs, combining AI capabilities with an integrated RTX GPU.
The tested laptop was the HP OmniBook Ultra 16, running Borderlands 4. With Nvidia’s Frame Generation x2, the game ran above 60 frames per second. Input delay and overall latency did not present an issue during the test. The system was tested only with that game, so broader performance conclusions remain limited.
Other RTX Spark laptops at Nvidia’s booth ran 007 First Light and Arc Raiders at smooth frame rates. The platform appears promising for gaming-focused laptops and compact PCs, although pricing remains an open concern, particularly amid ongoing memory shortages.
Nvidia staff also said the company is open to handheld manufacturers using the superchip. Nvidia already has a handheld connection through the Nintendo Switch 2, which uses the Tegra T239 processor and supports DLSS in multiple games.
RTX Spark could potentially power future handheld gaming PCs, but manufacturers would need to balance performance with battery life, power usage, and pricing. DLSS Super Resolution could be especially useful on smaller handheld screens, though any such products depend on manufacturers.
