NVIDIA is discontinuing the standard Shield TV and raising the price of the Shield TV Pro to $299, according to Wccftech. The report attributes the changes to rising DRAM and component costs.
The Shield platform began as NVIDIA’s entry into handheld and portable consoles. Wccftech says the first device, Shield Portable, used a Tegra 4 system-on-chip and let gamers run games through GeForce Now.
NVIDIA followed it with Shield TV in 2015, offering standard and Pro models. The current report says the standard model is being discontinued, while the Pro’s price is increasing by $100 to $299. It does not provide a date for the price change or give further details about the models’ availability.
