Hello Games is bringing No Man’s Sky to iPhone and iPad on October 28. Pre-orders open October 12 as part of the App Store’s Indie Games Week event, and the game will be free to try at launch.
The iOS release packs a decade of updates into less than 5GB, according to the source report. It follows the game’s 2016 launch, which the headline describes as rocky.
Studio founder Sean Murray said the project began as a kind of dare within the team because it seemed almost impossible. He compared the challenge with the game’s Nintendo Switch and VR ports. Murray said this is not a cut-down port.
