Elon Musk says he plans to give one of his SpaceX shares to every child in the United States starting next year. The plan was reported by The Verge, citing a post by Musk on X.
There were about 72 million children in the United States as of July 2025. Based on that figure, the shares would be worth about $10.5 billion, according to a report from CNBC. Musk wrote that the giveaway “will be the first of many.”
The announcement follows other proposed contributions to Trump Accounts, tax-advantaged investment accounts for American children. SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell announced that she would give shares of her SpaceX stock to 2 million Trump Accounts. Dell founder Michael Dell put $6.25 billion into the accounts, while Micron announced a $250 million investment.
Musk has also contributed to Republican midterm election efforts. In September, he donated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund PAC. CBS News reported that this amounted to more than half of the super PAC’s total receipts in the third quarter of that year. Musk also put $76 million into America PAC, which he founded in 2024.
