Ryan Roslansky is leaving Microsoft after nearly 18 years at LinkedIn and Microsoft, according to The Verge. Roslansky was LinkedIn’s CEO until recently. Last year, he was promoted to lead Office, and earlier this year he took control of Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in an internal memo that Roslansky leaves the organization in a strong position. The Verge reports that the Office and Teams teams will move under Charles Lamanna as part of Microsoft’s Copilot, Agents, and Platform (CAP) organization. Microsoft chief design officer Jon Friedman will report to Copilot chief Jacob Andreou. Dan Shapero, appointed LinkedIn CEO earlier this year, will remain in the role and report directly to Nadella.
Roslansky said in a memo to his teams that leaving was a hard decision. He said he would need to be at Microsoft’s Redmond headquarters full time to lead the next phase of the work, but that his family’s life is in the Bay Area. He also said his youngest daughter had just started high school.
The departure follows a leadership reshuffle after Rajesh Jha, former head of Microsoft’s experiences and devices group, retired earlier this year. Roslansky is leaving about a week after Microsoft announced its new Copilot. About a month earlier, he had called fully AI-generated documents “a doom loop” for workers in a LinkedIn post.
In his memo, Roslansky said he had spent nearly 18 years working on ways to help people find opportunity and do great work. He said LinkedIn had passed a billion members and nearly tripled its business since he became CEO in 2020.
