Meta is building a standalone Muse Charm AI device

Meta is building a dedicated hardware device for its Muse AI agent, according to The Verge. Called Muse Charm, the device was briefly shown by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the end of a Meta Connect presentation.

The Charm resembles a chunky smartwatch without a strap, with a large screen and a small lanyard for carrying it. It has a fingerprint sensor in the top-right corner that can activate the agent for voice conversations. The device also appears to include a small camera and what looks like at least three microphone holes on its front.

Zuckerberg said users will not need to unlock a phone or open an app to use the Charm. He did not explain how it connects to Meta’s servers. Meta plans to ship it “in time for the holidays in December,” but Zuckerberg said the company has “only built a few” so far and still needs to finalize the finishing material.

He also described a possible translucent exterior that would expose the device’s internals as an “elevated hacker aesthetic,” and promised more details soon.

Muse is less than a month old. Meta says the agent can take actions for users, including computer use on Macs and control of an email address. The Verge compared the Charm with the Rabbit R1, another small device built around an AI agent.
