LinkedIn tests new networking and creator tools

LinkedIn is testing new features aimed at helping members build professional relationships and creators earn income. The company says the tools respond to more professionals taking on side hustles.

LinkedIn reported that the number of founders on its platform has risen by 70% since 2019, while members reporting more than one job position increased by 26%. It also said more than half of Gen Z professionals are unsure how to develop a relationship after an initial connection.

A new Network feed, initially being tested in the US, UK, India and Australia, will show posts from existing connections in a separate feed. LinkedIn has not announced a wider rollout or general availability. The company also plans to add digital business cards to its app, with support for mobile wallet apps, and says a global rollout is planned in the coming months. Premium subscribers will be able to add private notes to other members’ profiles.

For creators, LinkedIn is introducing a dashboard to manage content and view statistics. In-Stream Ads are also planned for videos as another monetization option; they are currently being tested with select US creators and advertisers.

LinkedIn said its goal is to help turn relationships into opportunities, help members get discovered and create new ways to earn.
