Lenovo has announced the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 at Innovation World during IFA 2026. The 990g notebook starts at $999.99 and is scheduled to become available for purchase in Q1 2027.
The laptop is part of a series of launches centered on Lenovo’s “Hybrid AI for Business,” but the press release makes no AI claims for the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2. Lenovo has also not published the AI TOPS capabilities of the as-yet-unnamed Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 3 CPU paired with it.
The higher-end configuration has a 14-inch 16:10 2.8K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, 500 nits, and a bent anti-glare finish. A WUXGA LCD option keeps the 120Hz refresh rate, offers 100 percent sRGB and 400 nits, and can include optional touch.
Connectivity is more limited. The notebook has two USB-C ports with USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity at 10Gbps, but no Thunderbolt or USB4. Its 18Gbps HDMI 2.1 port supports output up to 4K 60Hz. Wi-Fi support is limited to 160MHz, compared with 320MHz on the ThinkBook 14 Gen 9.
By comparison, the ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 uses a Snapdragon X2 Plus with stated 80 TOPS AI performance and Copilot+ support out of the box.
