JBL’s Cove M1, Cove P1 and Cove X1 wireless speakers are now available in Australia, following their announcement just over a month ago. TechRadar’s Max Langridge reports that he recently saw and heard the range in a demonstration, but says he will need to test the speakers at home before drawing firm conclusions about how they compare with Sonos.
The three models can each work alone or pair with a second speaker of the same model for stereo sound. They also support integration with compatible JBL products, including Bar Mk2 soundbars and Bluetooth speakers. All three have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with Google Cast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect and Roon Ready support. The Cove P1 and X1 support Dolby Atmos. The battery-powered P1 is portable and has a claimed battery life of 14 hours.
JBL says its JBL One platform handles setup, speaker grouping and playback controls. In Langridge’s demonstration, the app displayed available speakers on one screen and provided step-by-step setup instructions. The P1 also has a heart-shaped Moment button that can resume the most recent content when pressed and held.
The M1 has three 20mm tweeters, one 4-inch woofer and 110W total output. The P1 has three 30mm tweeters, one 20mm tweeter for Dolby Atmos and the same 4-inch woofer, with 120W total output. The X1 has four 30mm tweeters, two 90 x 120mm woofers and 200W total output. TechRadar reports that an exclusive JBL Australia coupon code offers 20% off full-priced items on the JBL Australia store.
