IKEA has launched its second-hand marketplace in the UK, where users can buy and sell used IKEA home furnishing products directly. The company’s service is available through its official marketplace page.
Listings can be created by uploading a photo, searching previous IKEA purchases after logging in, or entering details manually. IKEA can automatically add information such as measurements. The marketplace includes furniture, lighting, smart home and home electronics, but excludes mattresses, appliances and food. Items must be genuine IKEA products in good working condition; hacked furniture and modified creations are not allowed.
Sellers can receive payment in cash or as an IKEA digital refund card. Choosing the card adds a 15% top-up to the price. IKEA says payment is released 48 hours after the buyer confirms they have accepted the item.
The marketplace is currently free for buyers and sellers in the UK. IKEA says that from January 1, 2027, buyers will pay a 5% “buyer protection” fee for payment and support. The service is also live in Sweden, Spain, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal and Poland. TechRadar reports that Vinted and eBay charge buyers fees of 2% to 8% of the listed price, while Facebook Marketplace charges a 10% selling fee for delivered items and is free for local collections.
