IKEA and Xbox have teamed up on YXSTABY, a gaming furniture collection that combines playful designs with storage features, according to TechRadar.
Many pieces stand on castors, so they can be moved into place and tucked away when not needed. The collection also includes furniture with hidden pockets, slings and compartments for gaming equipment. Wall-mountable mirrored display boxes are designed to show controllers from different angles.
One storage unit also works as a side table. Its casing slides to reveal gaming gear or cover it, and the unit is on castors. The collection’s designers drew inspiration from the Xbox controller: its D-pad appears on a lap cushion and decorative platter, while a thumbstick-inspired design takes the form of a stool.
TechRadar reports that the range is available to buy. The publication’s James Pickard tried the stool when the collection was unveiled at Gamescom and described it as “more comfortable than it looks,” despite calling it “completely absurd.”
