Iiyama PC Gaming Laptop Adds an Integrated Cooling Stand

Iiyama PC has put a 15-inch gaming laptop on sale in Japan with a fold-out stand built into the underside of its chassis.

The stand props up the Level 15FX167 notebook and raises it slightly, creating more clearance for air to circulate underneath. Iiyama PC claims the design can lower the CPU operating temperature by up to 3C compared with using the laptop flat on a surface.

The Level 15FX167 includes an Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 185H, 16GB of RAM, an Nvidia RTX 5060 GPU, and a 1TB SSD. The raised angle may also improve typing ergonomics, according to the source.

Integrated stands are not new in laptops, but this cooling-focused implementation differs from the traditional kickstand used on devices such as Microsoft's Surface products. Asus Ergolift is similar in concept, although it is built into the notebook's hinge.

The stand's durability remains an open question. A review would be needed to assess whether the mechanism could become a weak point. Iiyama is the same brand that makes monitors and operates under the same parent company.
