Huawei Router X2 Pro pairs Wi-Fi 7+ with book-inspired design

Huawei has introduced the Router X2 Pro, a home Wi-Fi router with a rectangular enclosure inspired by a closed book. It combines Wi-Fi 7+ connectivity with mesh networking and interchangeable magnetic covers.

The router measures 191.7 × 51.1 × 141.1mm and weighs 475g. Its side panel can be replaced with other covers, including customised designs made through 3D printing. Huawei has shown designs featuring pandas, cats, dogs and penguins, but has not confirmed whether they are included with the router.

Hardware features include four integrated Wi-Fi antennas, a Lingxiao 760 series chipset and four signal amplifiers. Huawei says its dynamic narrowband technology can reduce lag by up to 80%, while NearLink improves network stability by 50%.

The Router X2 Pro supports wired connections and wireless Mesh setups. Its AI Mesh system can analyse an uploaded home floor plan in Huawei's Smart Life application and recommend equipment placement. Mesh Lights indicate connection strength, and automatic roaming manages transitions between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

Huawei lists one unit at 588 yuan (about $88) and a two-unit package at 1,108 yuan (about $166). A decorative casing option costs 99 yuan (about $15), though the announcement does not say whether that price applies to every customised cover. Listed finishes are Earthy Brown, Oak White, Stone Gray and Spruce Green.
