Florida County Weighs 2,232-Acre Hyperscaler Data Center Site

A 2,232-acre site in Osceola County, Florida, is being offered to hyperscalers for a proposed data center development. The land is almost three times the size of New York’s Central Park, according to TechRadar.

The property was listed online from July 2026. The county has zoned it specifically for a hyperscaler, and regional utility Duke Energy has said it can supply electricity for a completed facility, subject to the availability of “significant water resources.” No company has been identified as the prospective buyer.

Residents have raised concerns about the scale of development in the area, local infrastructure, wildlife, water and noise. Osceola County has seen farmland redeveloped for housing and jobs, while residents say other projects have affected travel around the county.

Local resident and conservation photographer Angelo Chiarelli said the proposal was “a wake-up call” about the changing way of life for ranchers and people who photograph the area. TechRadar reported that Florida law leaves decisions on developments such as this to local leaders. Whether residents will urge the County Commission to reject the project remains unclear.
