Five Swedish Companies Launch Shared AI Supercomputer

AstraZeneca, Ericsson, Saab, SEB and Wallenberg Investments have launched Sferical One, a shared AI supercomputer in Sweden. The companies say the infrastructure will give them access to advanced computing capacity for developing and using AI across several industries.

Operated by their joint company, Sferical AI, the system is based on Nvidia’s DGX SuperPOD architecture and consists of 16 DGX GB300 systems. It has been running since late summer 2026. The companies say sharing the infrastructure can help them avoid each investing in equivalent facilities, while also enabling them to share technical expertise and develop AI solutions across industry boundaries.

Sferical AI says the project is intended to give the companies greater control over their AI infrastructure and let them train and run advanced AI models in Sweden. CEO Jenny Nordlöw said in a press release that the collaboration combines shared infrastructure with joint development and knowledge exchange between industries.

The companies are exploring several uses. AstraZeneca is working with AI in drug development, while Ericsson is exploring foundation models for telecommunications. Saab is focusing on defense applications, SEB on financial services, and SKF on predictive maintenance, quality control, and research and development.

Sferical AI also plans services based on Nvidia’s open multimodal AI models, Nemotron, which could be adapted to companies’ needs and used in environments with specific security requirements. The initiative includes Sferical Labs, where the participating companies will collaborate on AI development and skills building.
