Fitbit users are reporting inaccurate nutritional data from Google Health, the artificial intelligence (AI) helper integrated into many Fitbit wearables.
Users posting on Reddit described errors including Google Health overestimating the calories in a serving of eggs while underreporting the calorific intake of Greek yogurt. One user also said the food database contained incorrect nutrition facts.
Other users reported that Google Health sometimes fails to add foods when asked and then logs them inaccurately. Complaints in the same discussion also mention changes to workouts and imported data from other systems.
The reports follow Fitbit’s transition from its previous health-tracking app to the AI-native Google Health alternative. Users have also described the AI’s fitness advice as “unhinged,” accused it of telling “nonstop lies” about workout sessions, and called it “unbelievably bad.”
A recent update lets users hide the AI tool completely, suggesting that Google has responded to at least some of the criticism. The reported problems have raised concerns about the reliability of AI-generated health and nutrition data.
