ExpressVPN has added tracker blocking and access to ExpressAI to its entry-level Basic plan, bringing two features previously reserved for higher-priced tiers to all Basic subscribers.
Basic already blocked ads, malicious sites and adult content through Lite Protection. Tracker blocking, which stops scripts from following users across the web, was previously available from the Advanced plan. The Basic plan costs $2.99 per month.
Basic subscribers also now get ExpressAI, ExpressVPN’s private AI assistant. The company says conversations are processed in a protected environment that it cannot read. Basic includes 50 credits per day, 1 AI model, 100MB of storage and web search. Advanced includes 100 daily credits, 1 model and 500MB of storage. Pro retains 500 credits per day, six models and 2GB of storage.
Advanced also keeps 12 simultaneous connections, compared with Basic’s 10, and a larger email protection allowance. ExpressVPN says the update builds on its February 2026 plan changes, which brought together tools including ExpressAI, ExpressMailGuard and Identity Defender. Identity Defender was limited to US users at launch. ExpressKeys moved to a standalone app in the same shake-up.
The change comes ahead of Black Friday on November 27, as VPN providers begin promoting offers. TechRadar’s article notes that Surfshark cut the price of its mid-tier plan to match its entry-level plan.
